Flagship Devices: One UI 6.1 Upgrade
The Galaxy S23 family (including S23 FE), the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5, and the Galaxy Tab S9 series are among the flagship phones that will be receiving the One UI 6.1 upgrade from Samsung, which officially kicks off the next phase of the company’s distribution of Galaxy AI features.
Features on 100 Million Devices
Samsung Vice President Nick Porter claims that once the update spreads widely, the current release will have brought Galaxy AI features to 100 million devices worldwide. Included in this list of features are live translation, text summaries, AI wallpapers, and more, all of which debuted in January alongside the Galaxy S24 series.
Interview: Samsung VP Nick Porter
The Samsung vice president was interviewed by GSMAerna, where they inquired about the company’s intentions to release Galaxy AI for phones from earlier generations, since there have been several earlier stories suggesting that the Korean smartphone manufacturer had such ambitions.

Galaxy AI Expansion: Earlier Generation Phones
Porter sadly declined to answer the question, but he did clarify that Samsung is currently debating which devices should receive Galaxy AI and whether to provide all of the functions or simply those that are most compatible with older hardware. Samsung hasn’t, however, announced any official plans as of yet.
Future Expansion: Galaxy AI Language Support
Older phones may therefore still be possible, although official confirmation will take some time to come. The vice president gave a positive assurance that later this year, Live Translate and Chat Assist will include support for other languages.
